afternoon folks,

i'm taking out a couple of hogs to a dubstep night this sat to provide a bit of low end extension to the in house system (which i've yet to see, but could possibly be matin audio w8c)

i usually just take the rig out and run the bass flat, with pretty satisfying results, but as i'm not taking out the rest of the rig i want to make a good impression with what i am taking, i dont we to be adding on to a pretty slick system and becoming the weakest link in the chain, the venue is pretty small and 2 extra Hogs should tear the place up quite nicely, but i want to get it tweaked so its sounding slick....

anyone got any setting that they use with good results? or wanna come down to the venue and have fiddle with my knobs on the day?
i'm rolling with a DCX for the processing, macrotech on sub duty.

hit me!

Cross them from 30 - 80hz , and a nice EQ boost doesn't go amiss around the 60hz region.

Would have thought 35hz-80hz 48db rolloff each side ?

30-35hz eats up a lot of power/Xmax, warms up VZ5s rather quickly, and wont buy you much with only 2x subs.

35hz to 60 hz [65hz max!!!]

24db lwr curve

2 or 3 db boost at 45hz usually makes the crowd smile
Produce a killer sound. Take no prisoners.

yeah i'll be running them from 35hz with a steep roll off either side to be on the safe side.
45hz boost & 60hz seem like a good plan, i'll have to try and have a little tinker before sat

Why cross them at 35/60 when a single Hog can do 30/80?

Drivers will last longer, and handle greater power input, from  35hz upwards.

Personally, if I was only taking out 2x subs, I would be running them from 38hz upwards.

Took mine out on the weekend....f**k me the thunder that comes out of them!!bought down the ceiling tiles, lucky we put the camo net up that caught them before anyone was hit!
with regards to eq would recommend losing some of the 50hz bump that we put in....not saying that it didn't do the business but they sounded a bit one note-ish.What a monster note it was mind, everyone was very taken aback that just 2 bins were doing what they were.
The main room had 12 fifteen inch scoops for they're dum and ass...you could clearly hear the 2 hogs in the room next door...was embarrasing.I even offered to turn them down!
Still they obviously deliver but do they only do 50hz??they didn't follow the bassline very well ,just overpowering 50hz...this was confirmed by Daves spectrum analyzer spl meter thingamybob...anyone else thought this??

What drivers you using? And what music was being played?

Went to two nights with 4 Hogs loaded with V18-1200's this weekend and it was nice and clear throughout.

Fair enough about the driver's lasting longer , thought you just mean't Hogs couldn't do 30 LOL

Dont know how well they were powered, but have seen this many times, hence I dont rate 15" scoops.

Sorry should have pointed out that it was Dubstep, through V18 1000s.Brutal bass but was tiring by the end of the night.Mind you I suppose if we had lost the bump at 50hz the rest of the freqs might have had a chance.Work in progress methinks.

Lev,cant comment on how they were powered but I did spot something Peavy in the rack ,didn't want to start poking my nose in as they were obviously struggling with the sound and didn't look too happy about it.Shame because it looked the part. All the 15s were Fane colossus XB.

Guess people still have alot of experimenting to do seeing as Hogs have only really just started popping up.
