We have 4 of these 18's laying around doing nothing. EBP is 120 and BL is 23. Do you guys think they will survive in the 186. The other option is a normal old 170l box. JBLMAN, ROG??

Really depends on what you're going to use it for.

186 horn, will not go low as stand alone but will be much louder as reflex, will go lower in stacks. With 4 in stack, preferably used for large parties inside or medium parties outside.

Basreflex, will go low standalone, can be used standalone, larger stacks will only improve SPL-wise. Preferably used for small to medium/large parties inside or small/medium parties outside.

The above should only be implemented as a rule of thumb.

My bad,

Everything looks fine as it is, except that they seem te be on the light side. I think it's a border line case. Personally I would give it a go in small stacks and up to AES-rating, but wouldn't want to be the final judge in this.

I think there isn't any problem with stack of two, and less than 1000W/cab. The 2242 has a light cone, but it is succesully used in horns, for example in the JBL ASH6118.

After looking at the driver again, I decided not to go the horn route. The paper is quite thin...  They are guaranteed to be fed well in excess of 1K. So we are just going to put them into some single Reflex boxes. Me thinks the thing will fall apart in the 186...

Btw: the JBL ASH6118 has dimensions of 22.3"H X 56.4"W X 50.7"D weighs 351 lbs.

My gut feeling is that the 2242 is not an ideal long horn driver.

Finally built the boxes. Tested them middle December. They went into exact copies of the JBL SRX718 cabs. They are SOOOOOO much nicer than those other SRX excuses for 18's.

Sorry what exactly do you mean by that?  The drivers in the SRX718 and 728 aren't up to it?
