There are bunch of companies that make Martin copies.
Some in China, but some are in Europe.

problem with buying these and replacing the drivers would be that there is probably no screws in the entire build.  and the glue is probably that nasty stuff that never quite cures properly.  not to mention the timber is probably 5 ply 12mm at best.  covered in lots of paint to hide the gaps.  with no prestige image to maintain, this company wont give a sh*t whether the cabinets last or not.

that grille is exactly the same as the ones on the real things, and i think its about 49% free air (according to martin anyway) looks the same pitch/hole size and the badge with the paper underneath is the same as well, the w8c's use phl drivers, so you can rest assured that they arent going to sound like th real thing.

mykey, did you say you've actually seen these?

This is what happens when a big company goes to China with full specs, plans. Gets them to make a few hundred cabs then pulls the plug for some reason. What the company gonna do? Bin the plans? This whole debacle has cost Martin greatly as far as ive heard.

Mikey is right, the build on on these cabs is spot on. i saw some a couple of days ago in a local PA dealer. They weren't for sale just been obtained with a shipment of their own stuff from China. Even the drivers LOOKED the same. Whether they sound the same is another matter!

china thrives on copies

if theres demand, they'll do it, its the centre of the fakes/copies industry, watched some program on ch4 about it a while back, they can even make fake chicken eggs!!!!!
