Cerwin...chill out, man.  We are all passionate about sound here, and I guess CV is your chosen fancy that you want to collect(?) - if so, then collect your CV system and assemble a DJ rig in your house.

However, if you are more interested in sound quality then you need to read up on horn theory and see that you are trying to put a round peg into a square hole.  As suggested, a descent BR cab will rock in the average living room.  Unless your living rom is the size of a church hall, that is.

Lots of love,
a square peg.

Yeah feels like all are passionate about sound, but if its not some of the expensive brands instead of CW then u get declared like an idiot.....! I get it the 188EB DOES NOT FIT IN A SCOOP;OKAY I GET IT.

Maybe i should use my CW as expensive letterpresses instead, that seems to be the only thing(accordingly too u guys) that they are good for. I have not the money to buy lika PD or other expensive brands.

I want too build 186 horns instead(BUT thats surely also wrong) but NO one seems too wanna help me with a COMPLETE cuttinglist(i cant figure out the angles myself).so i cant build them either.

seems like a need to go coarses and buy all the books about scoops and foldedhorn before i post something here...! feels like i dont want to write or ask something more on this forum, becase i haet to be treted like an idiot. how should i know that the CWs dont fit in scoops. I thought 1 par would work great for home use, but apperntly not. I wonder what will happen if i buld a par of MS-18MK3 or HOG.scoops. why would it be so wrong????wont the boxes go deep or loud or just sound like shit?
If where too loud youre too old!

Shocked LOL

@cerwin4life, if you need assistance building 186 horn, best to ask in the 186/1850 horn forum.

All we are saying here is, purely due to your driver T/S parms, most people here wouldn't recommend it for much, as there are cheaper drivers with better specs/performance.

This place isn't like the Cerwin-Vega forum, where everyone loves everything CV, and people get banned by the Mods for saying one word against any CV product. Wink

There are many drivers people say they have, and the consensus here will sometimes be, not worth trying to build decent cab, as the parameters are just not that good.

But the people on the forum have tried to help saying that a br cab would be the most suitable option and for home use its probably be your best option... if youv got your heart set in scoop then why not sell the cvs and get one decent scoop driver till you can afford another?

From what iv read people have just got your best interests in mind...

Yours truly
A newb who hasn't really read up on scoops and horns that much :)

Ok let me try explain again.

186 box is designed around PD186 driver. And will give about 50-55Hz low extension as one box with PD186 driver.

Your driver however has totally different parameters and will not give the same results. Meaning you will end up with two big boxes that will go as low as maybe 50Hz. But maybe.

I hope i am getting to a point here that you will understand.

Just saw on a different forum of a CV 188eb being used in a Cubo18. Worked OK as far as vintage drivers go.

What do you guys think about loading MS-18 mkIII cabs with these "obom"'s:
http://speakerjuke.shop.wosbee.com/filemanager/productpics/423picture2Upload.jpg ??

Would they work in ms-18 if you look at the specs? Only thing why I'm asking this is that i have a fresh contact to these drivers almost for free.

Would build 4x MS-18 with these to fill a little party with sub-freqs. >

Bless!

They might be the single most awsome drivers ever made, but there is no way for us to find that out following that link. There are no Thiele/Small parameters on that document. The frequency graph looks very vague as well.

My guess is that they would work very well as a paperweight.
