We worked really hard the last week to get the punisher ready for sat night, working into the early hours of the morning.  The result though, was by far worth it!!!  We had our old pair of OHM 18" running about 400w each, and a single punisher at about 800w.

The Punisher was easily a lot bassier than the two reflexs, probably double.  The sound was a lot more intense too, it's hard to explain!  We were rattling the floor and roof of a small 50 capacity skittle alley.

Now to make about 7 more

We would have run the punisher and other bins harder, but we were lacking top for once (see other thread).

How well does the single Punisher perform? What amp did you run it with? And what crossover points etc?

I'm guessing it all depends how large a venue you want to fill.  I was high passing at 40Hz, and to me it didn't miss anything in the bass department, tested with techno and dnb.  It was tested on the actual night, very little time for sound checks.

I had one of our 3G amps bridged into it, so could have given it close to 1500 watts.

As the setup time was so small, and I'm running it with 12" mids it was running 40Hz to 120Hz.  Over time I'll be playing with those values.

I would really like to try a pair, but not sure who could build them properly for me / how much it's going to cost.

Currently using 4 stacks of EV MT2, but want to cut the weight and size down a bit.

ahh jamie you should have got in touch with me a fortnight ago! im building 8 this month, but ive just got all the ply cut :(

im at uni now so building periods are a bit intermittent, but let me know if you still want some come april-ish

i think ive seen pictures of 'marcus's work (was it him building that huge batch of punishers fairly recently?), i imagine he'd be an equally good, if not better, alternative ;)

I'm redesigning the plans so that all all the internal panels slot into routed side panels.  The first one was a nightmare, spent most of the time thinking which bits to assemble, how and when.

do it!! it's the way forwards... plus you have the added advantage that if you
make up templates to cut nearly everything out you can virtually production
line the little blighters (when i've finished my martins etc...). have you got
any piccies of your punisher build flipside?

Yep, we got lots of photos!
http://flipsidevibe.com/forum/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=24 &PN=1&TPN=4

Theres some more on previous pages too on that forum.  You can see how we did the access panels, thought that was the best way.  A lot more space to get your hands in without any battens.

I'll start on them plans over the xmas holidays, need to ask the wood cutters how much pre routed panels on theri CNC router wil cost.
