I am aware of that driver. I would discart it. Too high Vas and too light curved cone. Risky for this application in my eyes.

Nikon and Canon people should not be married to each other. Why did you let this happen?

Eighteen sound LW2400 IS DISCONTINUED, now the substitute is LW2420. Its very similar but with more power handling (1300w).
Has anyone ever tried this on scoops? Follow the T/S

That driver is reflex driver.
Look at 18LW2600. That will rock in right Scoop, but maybe not Superscooper. Will require understanding of matching driver to Scoop throat.

Since Iām sure Iām not the only one very, very bored of the ānudge nudge wink winkā cyclical posts on this section, hereās a comprehensive set of guides from the very experienced Martin J. King on all aspects of designing a well-performing rear loaded horn speaker. http://www.quarter-wave.com/Horns/Horn_Theory.html Sections 7, 8 and the two additional articles are the ones of key note, but itās far easier if any interested people work through them sequentially. His MathCAD sheets arenāt available any more, but all the relevant equations are included (with all variables clearly defined) and Octave is free if youāre the scripting type. The short summary however is that a āscoopā behaves as a transmission line at all low frequencies of interest, and the āhorn loadingā part isnāt really taking effect until the āmid bandā of the design. The throat acoustic impedance target isnāt really any different to other highly damped loadings. Watch the volume velocity and compression ratio⦠plenty of illustrative examples throughout. Happy trails. |

one of the best speakers i have heard lately is the b n c 18sw115 i know its been out a while but wow what a beast ,obvz for med to large chambers by default because of the depth ( 226mm from back of mounting flange ) but can do a return on the throat to load it a bit more if needed , we ab tested with 1852s and the 1852s blew up, not in the same league, the b and cs lasted all day as was a afternoon session 2 till 11 on the night :) amp was a itech 12k with 2 a side 32 amp feed limiters set just under clip but no clipping

Just tested the 18DS100 from B&C on Polar Bear Scoop... very impressive driver and should be added to the list of compatible drivers.

Yes I did, but it is already on the list of compatible drivers... I mentioned the DS100 because nobody talk about it... there is a hot deal on Bluearan right now (may 2022) only 275GBP 18DS100.
