Note - NOT your PA you store/use in your house!

kind of curious to see what people use. I know some use standard modest commercial systems like TonyASS's Bose, others use hifi type domestic units from standard to 'audiophile' grade, others have DIY hifi/amps/cabs, others studio kit, etc etc etc......

what you got?
''Remember that the object of a subwoofer is to enhance the output of your main speakers, not overpower it''

''Dubstep - an elongated electronic fart''

Ask me again in a year! Renovating the lounge early 2013, plan is to build my own 5.1 system. Just finishing off a few boxes for my brother and going for a gloss finish. So far, so good. if that works well then I will apply the same technique to my lounge efforts.

At the moment it's an old Denon AVR amp that only does prologic but good enough for me, and a cheapy Gale 5.1 system. Original modded xbox to run XBMC as a media server. New setup will have a true HTPC running the latest XBMC.

Just build two small sattelies for my bedroom. Each houses 4 small 2'' fullrange Peerless   please -830970 for mid (which have a surprisingly flat response) and then a beyma T2030 dome tweeter above them.
A single sattelite is powered actively by a 2x12w dual channel TDA2616 based amp module . One channel driving the mid and one driving the high, protected by a small bulb and cap.
Underneath it are dynacord BR subs with a light 12'' cone.

Crossing it all actively with a dcx at around 450Hz and 11kHz. Sounds superb, some of the best i've ever heard, although i'm thinking of upgrading the amps.

I'm thinking about building a 3 way system for home use, using a reggae mini-preamp and some small Crest amps. For bass probably some 8" or 10" Volt drivers in reflex cabs.

Does anyone have some ideas for mids and tops in this set up?

I'll upload some pics tomorrow but my set up consists of a pair of monitor audio rs6's. Powering them is a verynice denon pma-1500ae.

Player wise I've got a technics SL-L1 which is as old as me. It's an old schol automatic turntable which sounds quite nice. Also got a phono to jack for playing tunes off the laptop

I know this is arguable but it was at first designed for a bit of "extra bass" for the basement. It got a bit out of hand though, and before we knew it we just abandoned spending our student loans on going out and instead on building a little system! It is now our rig, but as you can see in the picture, it was just our basement Hifi for whenever we fancied a cheeky mix for 6 months!
