+1 We realised early on a number of factors were affecting the test, a) The workshop was packed full of loaded cabs, and which ever cab was on the left (very close to another loaded cab), automatically sounded better. b)The PL380 was clipping way too early, even with only 1x cab on 1x channel. Marlon/Lloydd operate these amps day in/day out at gigs, with 2x 1850s per channel and know what they can do. They informed us before hand, of the mains fluctuation situation. However, it was easy to recognise, the PD1851 does have a warmer/fuller sound than PD1850 in the right cab. Personally, I think there was very little difference in performance between The RX18DC and Hangar Lane Mk2 scoop, both loaded with 1851. The RX18DC had slight edge on SPL, and Ren thinks it was also more defined. Edited by levyte357 - 24 July 2010 at 12:39pm |

Why do you need a 32amp feed for a PL380 ?
Am using one now running on a 16amp feed and its fine..... & i have ran PL380's off 13a with no problems and even then it was hitting clip. What are you guys doing ![]() |

Do you have any problems running PL380s/CA18s in the same building we were last night ? Edited by levyte357 - 24 July 2010 at 5:31pm |

Never understood why so many SP folks who hate scoops, always have something to say in scoop forum, or about scoop oriented events. Well PD likes scoops, and used some for testing their most important product in over 8 years, so who cares what Tim/Mike thinks... ![]() |

![]() No one seems to be able to answer my question tho or even better prove this scoop thing :) Have you been to any of the SP meets Saul ? If so why do you think the scoops have always done so bad ?

No really mate joking a side, 3 times now someone has brought a scoop along and its came out very poor. Have you been at any of the meets Saul ? I've met so many not sure who's who...
I've heard SoundGoods scoops which were made by Opus and there good but the ones people bring to these meets just dont cut it. ( Not messing around either )

Wicked TRU. Was good chatting to you the other day.
After TRU's delivery we got 8x 1851's on thursday night. MASSIVE respect to PauliePaul for driving them the long distance to norfolk at 8 in the evening and then having to drive all the way back home. ![]() Tested one last night and it was shocking VERY VERY LOUD. For only one driver it was CRAZY massive amounts of air movement and flapping trousers at 3 meters away. Had a neighbour come over saying all his windows were rattling. It was loaded in a 1850 folded horn. Taking all 8 out next Saturday and will see how much structural damage will be caused. hahahReally looking forward to hearing one in a scoop. Hopefully will meet up with saul soon and see what its like in his new cow's Again thanks to pauliepaul for making it all happen. ![]() Edited by goliath - 24 July 2010 at 10:57pm |
