And having spent a day with normal hardwood ply (it came as a deal) I can safely say never again.
I'd rather buy 8 plastic corners and work with MDF than this stuff.

PCH, nice looking cabs.

I have build boxes from ply and MDF, there are pros and cons with both. One of the best results I ever got was a 2x15" cab made from 25mm MDF - weighed a ****ing ton but it sounded real nice. MDF is denser than ply, and since this job was for install, how it fared on the road was not at issue.

Used correctly, MDF is just fine.

MDF can struggle a bit if not correctly sealed and protected, once it scuffs and allows moisture in it will tend to expand a little. MDF isnt perfect for a hard life on the road, but if you look after your kit, it's just fine.

The design in the link was mdf internal, ply external. That's the way I like to do it. And audio stash prices in mdf aren't cheap? Same price as other builders ply cabs. Unless I've been told wrong

I'm not making any judgments on price, just saying that MDF can work.

For boxes on the road, Ply is obviously better and will last longer.

When you look at the overall cost of a cabinet, including hardware, labour, driver, etc the wood cost is not a massive part, so although there is a saving with MDF, it is not massive.

Obviously, as cabs get bigger, the wood used also increases, so the saving of MDF starts becoming a little more noticeable.

define a good builder, one that 6 months ago could not brace even a reflex cab correctly, now claims to have designed several cabs....

More food for thought.....

Like others have said, once the water drys behind his ears, he may well become a good builder, I would like to see some original work, not copies of others work....

I'm not going to justify that with an answer. This is a thread to show off build pics, nothing more.

Couple of guys heads are so far up their own arse they forget what it means to be righteous.
